U.S. manager William R. Cummings’ official report lists James Gentle (Brookline High School/University of Pennsylvania) as the team’s goal-scorer in this post-World Cup match. Other reports name the scorer as Bert Patenaude, who is listed with having scored 10 goals (plus another eight disallowed) during the 10-game U.S. campaign in the 1930 World Cup and post-tournament tour of South America.

Kristine Lilly (b. July 22, 1971) earns first cap. Lilly made her international debut while she was a 16-year-old junior at Wilton (Conn.) High School, along with Mia Hamm (15 years, 140 days). Lilly played her first game in the U.S. in 1990 and her first match in New England in 1991. Lilly leads USWNT players with 354 games and is third in goals with 130, behind Abby Wambach (184) and Hamm (158).
