Landon Donovan played twice at Foxboro Stadium and 20 times (11 goals) at Gillette Stadium. Donovan holds the Gillette record with a four-goal game for the U.S. in a 5-0 win over Cuba in 2003.
Donovan, 19, scored twice in the opening half (one penalty kick) and the Revolution’s Mauricio Wright and Caté were red-carded. Caté broke Imad Baba’s team record with his fifth penalty kick, cutting the deficit to 2-1 in the 44th minute.
This was the Revolution’s highest-scoring home loss. In the space of a week, the Revolution recorded a 5-1 victory and sustained losses by scores of 5-1 and 4-1, all three games at Foxboro Stadium.
