The Boston Celtics hoped to acquire former Boston players Bobby Ballantyne, Billy Gonsalves, Alex McNab and Scotty Nilsen. “This quartet is regarded as worth thousands of dollars in transfer fees.” (The Boston Globe)

Dec. 10, 1922 – Fall River 0:0 Bethlehem Steel, Mark’s Stadium (Att.: 7,000)

Fall River retained the lead in the ASL standings on a ”very cold day, with a biting northeast wind sweeping the field, which chilled the spectators to the bone … [Fall River] outplayed Bethlehem.” Lorimer (Fall River) penalty kick saved by Kerr in first half, Stone hit the bar and Reid “blew two similar shots.” (Bethlehem Globe)

Bethlehem Steel went on to finish second and Fall River third (J&P Coats first) in 1922-23 ASL standings.

Shawsheen AA v Charlestown, canceled

“The soccer game between the Shawsheen AA and the Charlestown team of the Boston & District League … was cancelled at the last minute on account of the objections made to the Selectmen against the playing of such a game, by several residents of the town.”
