Colombia, featuring players such as Faustino Asprilla and Carlos Valderrama, defeated Northern Ireland in a preview of both the 1994 World Cup and the proposed Major League Soccer.
“That was a great atmosphere with just more than 20,000 fans,” U.S. Soccer Federation administrator Richard Groff said. “For a Major League Soccer team, if they get 15,000-20,000 every week, that would be all right. To get 5,000 or 10,000 wouldn’t be. But the atmosphere would be very good with 15,000-20,000.”
Goals: Wilson Perez, Adolfo Valencia.
