Lewis Cup final at Mark’s Stadium, N. Tiverton, R.I. According to the Boston Globe: “Boston’s professional soccer team smashed all kinds of records … in the final game in the American League Cup Series, trimming Fall River’s crack eleven, 2 to 1, before the largest crowd that ever watched a soccer game in this country. There were 17,000 fans in Marks’ Stadium … every seat was occupied and every resting place on the fences was filled … ‘’
Fall River won the American Soccer League title with a 27W-5L-12D (66 points) record and Boston finished in fourth place. But the Wonder Workers had the Marksmen’s number, snapping their 25-match (22-0-3) home unbeaten streak. The Wonder Workers went unbeaten (3-0-1, 7-2 goal differential) against the Marksmen during the 1924-25 season, and went on to defeat the Ben Millers of St. Louis in a best-of-three series for the U.S. Professional Cup title.
