The Revolution were eliminated from the U.S. Open Cup after squandering a 3-0 lead, then losing as Benny Feilhaber’s penalty kick was saved by Nick Noble. Kelyn Rowe opened the scoring in the 95th minute and the Revolution took a three-goal lead after a Lee Nguyen penalty kick (100’) and Feilhaber goal (103’). The City Islanders rallied on goals by Brian Ombiji (111’), Sainey Touray (117’) and JT Noone (120’). Andrew Marshall converted the deciding penalty kick. Rowe, who is second on the Revolution all-time list with six U.S. Open cup goals (one behind Taylor Twellman) made his debut in the tournament.
