The New England Revolution scored in regulation time for the first time in an MLS Cup final before losing to the Dynamo for the second successive year. The Revolution, who had fallen in the 2002, ’05, ’06 finals, had been shut out in the post-season before Taylor Twellman’s 113th-minute goal snapped their 331-minute scoreless streak. Goals: Ngwenya, De Rosario; Twellman.

Nov. 18, 1923 – Fall River Marksmen 4:0 [7:3] J&P Coats, National Challenge Cup (U.S. Open Cup) replay at Mark’s Stadium (Att.: 14,375)

The Boston Globe reported a crowd of 16,000: “All records for attendances at soccer games in this country were smashed here today … for a National Challenge Cup match” … Coats “intimated that they would protest, claiming that McKenna was not eligible to take part in this replay, as he was under suspension when the original game took place.” (George M. The teams had played to a 3-3 extra time draw on Nov. 10, 1923. The Marksmen went on to win the 1924 National Challenge Cup. Goals: Frank McKenna 2, Campbell, Reid.
