Archie Stark scored one of his 49 goals (in 43 matches) of the 1927-28 ASL season as Bethlehem Steel blanked the Fall River Marksmen. Stark set a record with 67 regular-season goals for Bethlehem Steel in the 1924-25 season.
Nov. 27, 1927 – New York Giants 4:1 Boston SC, ASL game at Starlight Park, Brooklyn (Att.: 5,000)
Also on Nov. 27, 1927, at least three area matches were canceled or postponed, due to a soccer ball “bursting,” weather and another with no reason given, according to The Boston Globe:
— “School Soccer Season is Over” – “Big game” on Boston Common called off;
— “Football Bursts, So Game Is Called Off” Victoria v YMSC, Bay State Junior League match at Shedd Park in Lowell, Mass. Victoria was leading, 3-0, late in the first half. (Matches were occasionally halted or not played because of balls having “burst” – seems there was often only one ball available for games);
— “Rain Prevents Game” – Fore River v Armenian Americans at Shipbuilders’ Field, Quincy
