Post by

One week after this American Soccer League exhibition match, the first NFL night game was played at Kinsley Park, which was torn down in 1933.

Joe Kennaway was the Providence goalkeeper from 1927-30, then joined the Fall River Marksmen. Kennaway impressed Celtic FC manager Willie Maley during a 1-0 Fall River victory on May 31, 1931 and later that year joined the Bhoys, following the death of John Thomson. Kennaway played for Celtic from 1931-39, winning two Scottish League championships, two Scottish Cup titles and the 1938 Empire Exhibition Trophy. Kennaway, who played for the Canadian and Scotland national teams, coached Brown University from 1946-59.
