Steve Ralston opened the scoring with a 55th-minute finish into an open net after Oguchi Onyewu headed an Eddie Lewis free kick off the left post as the U.S. qualified for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. DaMarcus Beasley added a 62nd-minute goal. Ralston made 15 of his 36 international appearances in 2005 but was not selected for the World Cup finals team.
Ralston, who totaled four goals for the U.S. from 1997-2007, was acquired by the Revolution, along with former Tampa Bay Mutiny teammates Adin Brown and Mamadou Diallo, after MLS contracted the Mutiny and Miami Fusion in 2002.
In 2003 and ’04, Ralston converted the MLS playoff-clinching goals for the Revolution.
Ralston, who set the MLS assist record in 2007, is third on the Revolution scoring list with 42 career goals.
