Charlie Davies (b. June 25, 1986 in Lawrence, Mass.) sustained extensive injuries in a one-car crash on the George Washington Parkway in Northern Virginia as the U.S. national team as it prepared for a World Cup qualifying match against Costa Rica in Washington, D.C. Davies attempted to recover in time for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, but was left off the team and has not returned to the USMNT picture (he totaled four goals in 17 international matches). When Lowell’s John Bertos started the Astros in the mid-1960s, he acted as owner, coach and goalkeeper. Bertos had to be resourceful, as the team moved from Fall River, to Boston to Worcester, competing in the American Soccer League from 1969 until 1975, when the team finished as co-champion of the league. Bertos brought in talented Brazilian players, such as Decio Brito, a former Pelé teammate at Santos FC and brother of Seleçāo star Brito. Jan. 9, 2014 – Revolution acquire Charlie Davies from Randers on free transfer
Charlie Davies always wanted to play for his hometown team, but it took seven years and five transfers before his wish came true. Davies joined the Revolution on loan from Randers FC in August 2013, the move made permanent after the season.
Davies then helped spark a Revolution run to the 2014 MLS Cup final. Davies set a team post-season record with four goals in five games as the Revolution eliminated the Columbus Crew and New York Red Bulls on the way to the final, a 2-1 extra time loss to the LA Galaxy.
